Lorca launches grant to make homes more energy efficient
Lorca City Council will invest half a million euros to help residents upgrade their homes
In a bid to create a more sustainable and efficient municipality, the Councillor for Urban Planning, María Hernández, has announced a new scheme to help the residents of Lorca optimise their homes' energy consumption.
The initiative, which is part of the ‘Lorca Housing Plan’ project, will provide direct aid of up to 12,000 euros to homeowners who undertake energy-efficient renovation work on their properties.
In total, 500,000 euros in funding has been set aside for the initiative.
The scheme is designed to encourage residents to make their homes more energy efficient, with a focus on reducing energy consumption and achieving an Energy Certificate of category A.
Any type of rehabilitation work is eligible, as long as it meets the energy efficiency criteria, and homeowners can receive up to 50% of the costs back in the form of a subsidy (up to a maximum of 12,000 euros).
The application period is now open and will run until July 31, 2026. Homeowners have 12 months to complete the work from the date of grant approval and all projects must be finished by July 31, 2027.
The Technical Rehabilitation Office (Oficina Rehabita), located on the ground floor of the Urban Planning Department, will serve as a one-stop shop for information and processing of grant applications.
This grant is open to all residents of the municipality of Lorca, both from the city and from the outlying areas.
In addition, these grants are compatible with those of the Call for Grants for Rehabilitation Actions at the Neighbourhood Level of the Lorca City Council, intended for rehabilitation works in buildings of predominantly residential use and homes, including single-family homes, in the Residential Environment of Programmed Rehabilitation of the Municipality of Lorca, as long as it is proven that the same cost is not subsidised.
With both options, any resident of the municipality can obtain help in residential rehabilitation, thus improving comfort and living conditions while fighting climate change and reducing emissions,” said Councillor Hernández, who highlighted “the importance of these grants from a social and public point of view and their relevance in terms of efficiency and sustainability in the municipality, both in the urban area and in the outlying districts.”
