San Javier Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.

When submitting text to be included on San Javier Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:

Guest performers from the outskirts of Murcia at the winter theatre in Parque Almansa

June 21 San Javier Folk festival 2026The 36th annual Festival de Folclore de San Javier is being held on Sunday 21st June at the Teatro de Invierno in Parque Almansa, in the town centre, and features among others the “San Francisco de Asís” group belonging to the “El Botijo” huertano group from Santiago y Zaraïche in Murcia as guest performers.

The evening also includes local group Auditorium performing humorous “sainetes huertanos”, and the event is hosted as ever by the Coros y Danzas Mar Menor, based in San Javier, just a few days before they set of from Romania to take part in a festival in the historic city of Timisoara.

The entertainment at the Teatro de Invierno begins at 20.00
