June 6 MABS Charity Golf Day sponsored by Simply Spanish Homes
Go along to watch the day’s golf and take part in the charity auction and raffle
In the Region of Murcia, with its 20 golf courses, competitions and tournaments are a 10 cents a dozen, but not all of them are as special or for as worthy a cause as the one coming up this June at the
Saurines golf course, Las Terrazas de la Torre.
So popular is the event expected to be that all 100 player spots have already been booked up, but spectators are still welcome to go along and watch to support both golfers and the charity effort.
As well as a full day of golfing action, there will be a charity auction, a prize raffle and entertainment provided by two groups –
Savage Cabbage and
The Cages – at
New York’s Bar, which also has a buffet lunch on for all non-golfers for just €10.
Over the last four years of the MABS Charity Golf Day, a grand total of €44,696 has been raised to provide support for those affected by cancer diagnoses and their families.
Matt Ryan from Simply Spanish Homes said, “For me, as many of you know, this charity day was put together to honour the memory of my late sister Maria, and we’ve received amazing support from so many people and businesses over the last four years to make it happen.”
He continued, “This year we will be dedicating the proceeds on a par 3 competition hole in memory of Paul Wadsworth, who was tragically killed in a road accident in September 2025.
“Paul (fondly known as BIG P) was a hugely popular character in the Failsworth area of Manchester where we lived. A former Royal fusilier, Paul carried out a huge amount of work for the Royal British legion, also raising lots of money for homeless charities in the local area and the
ANDYS MAN CLUB LIMITED (Reg charity number 1179647), which is a charity dedicated to men’s mental health.”
This year, Matt has also decided that 25% of what they raise will be sent to
Pendleside Hospice in Burnley (Reg charity number 700993)
“This is in memory of one of my best friends, Nicola Jane, who tragically lost her beloved sister Stacey to cancer at just 34 years old and earlier this year lost her beloved dad Graham Geraldine Rowe to the same cruel disease.”
Pendleside Hospice provided Nicola and her amazing family with compassion and support through their difficult time, and she and her husband Craig Nuttall have been “huge supporters” of the charity day from the onset. Hopefully this year’s donations to the hospice will help the staff at Pendleside to carry on their incredible work.
Now, the 2026 edition of the Charity Golf Day is a chance for any local businesses to lend their support by sponsoring a hole or donating to the auction or raffle prizes. Whether it’s a villa or an apartment you can put up for a long weekend or a voucher for a restaurant meal or other service, do dig deep and donate to this worthy very cause.
And even if you don’t own a local business, you can still get involved by buying some raffle tickets and going along to the evening’s entertainment.
