June 27 Yecla Legends, a free guided tour of historic buildings and cultural icons
The tales handed down over centuries by the people of Yecla are brought to life during a stroll around the town!
}The town of Yecla in northern Murcia is full of signs of its history, primarily through the architecture but also through the stories of illustrious sons and daughters of Yecla and the evidence of its culture, religious devotions and gastronomic traditions, and this tour brings some of those aspects alive.
This is achieved through the revisiting of a series of local myths and legends which have been passed on from generation to generation: there are twelve stops along the route, with such intriguing titles as “The Mysterious Knocking of San Pascual”, “The Porcelain Child”, “Black Tooth the Penitent” and “The Faces of Water”! Find out more by joining in!
The visit, which is held in Spanish, begins at 19.30 in the Jardín de la Constitución, alongside the “Idolillos Ars Ruestria” modern sculpture, and lasts approximately two and a half hours (weather permitting). Registration is available online here through the regional tourist board of Murcia.
