June 23 Celebrate the night of San Juan in San Javier and Santiago de la Ribera!
Varied entertainment around the traditional bonfire in the Parque Almansa in San Javier
The night of San Juan, which falls on 23rd June, the evening before the feast day of the Saint, is traditionally celebrated throughout Spain as a kind of midsummer festival, with bonfires being lit and outdoor get-togethers all over the country.
San Javier, on the inland shore of the Mar Menor, is no exception, and the Town Hall is organizing a night of entertainment and of course a large bonfire to celebrate the occasion. The evening begins at 18.30 in the Parque Almansa in the centre of town, and the attractions include an eco-friendly game show with pedal karts, tattoos and make-up, a 360º video, a kiddies’ parachute (!), a “Just Dance” session with Disney characters, laser pistols, popcorn, food trucks and live music from Orquesta Conectados.
On the same evening a similar event takes place on the seafront of Explanada Barnuevo in Santiago de la Ribera, this one starting at 22.30 and featuring a tribute to Femme Flow as well as the traditional bonfire.
It might not match the dark chill of 5th November but come along and enjoy Spanish Bonfire Night in the Parque Almansa and on Explanada Barnuevo!
