June 21 and 23 Night of San Juan celebrations in the Las Majadas district of Águilas
A Saturday evening of music and then the traditional neighbourhood bonfire in the north of Águilas
The night of San Juan, which falls on 23rd June, the evening before the feast day of the Saint, is traditionally celebrated throughout Spain as a kind of midsummer festival, with bonfires being lit and outdoor get-togethers all over the country.
Águilas, in the south-west of the Region of Murcia, is of course no exception, and one of the official events this year is taking place a couple of nights early on Saturday 21st June outside the Residencial Titanic in the Majadas district on the northern outskirts of the town. The evening begins at 18.00 with music played by DJ Juanmi, and then at 22.00 there is live music from Tiko Liria & Pedro and José Sáez. A bar/canteen will be open throughout the evening.
However, the main bonfire will be lit, as tradition demands, on the night of 23rd June, with all the neighbours joining in the celebration – visitors are of course welcome!
For more local events, news and visiting information contact the tourist office of Águilas or go to the home page of Águilas Today.
