Hello, and thank you for choosing sanjavier.today to publicise your organisation’s info or event.
San Javier Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.
When submitting text to be included on San Javier Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:
Send an email to editor@spaintodayonline.com or contact@murciatoday.com
Attach the information in a Word Document or Google Doc
Include all relevant points, including:
Who is the organisation running the event?
Where is it happening?
When?
How much does it cost?
Is it necessary to book beforehand, or can people just show up on the day?
…but try not to exceed 300 words
Also attach a photo to illustrate your article, no more than 100kb

June 20 to July 5 Annual fiestas in the Alhama village of La Costera
Plenty to eat, evening music and lots of fun and games, all in honour of Saint Peter!
The annual fiestas of the village of La Costera in Alhama de Murcia, on the RM-603 road leading to El Palmar and the city of Murcia, are being held in honour of San Pedro Apóstol (Saint Peter) from June 19 to July 4 and feature the following activities and events:
Friday July 19
22.00: The fiestas officially get under way with the opening speech given by Simón García Díaz and the handing of awards to various local residents. Snacks and drinks available at reasonable prices!
23.00: Live music with Serendipity.
Saturday July 20
10.00: Bolos Huertanos tournament in memory of " Pepe el de la Alberca".
19.00: Book presentation, "Tradición Oral en Alhama de Murcia. El cuento folclórico", by Anselmo J. Sánchez Ferra and Gregorio Rabal Saura.
Sunday June 21
8.00: The 17th annual Romería, in which the figure of San Pedro Apóstol is carried from Casa Omar (behind the old petrol station) to the little church of San Pedro. Breakfast is served up along the way with refreshments supplied by Juan el Cabezón, and a barbecue is held at the church, where music is provided by the Cuadrilla de La Costera.
Monday June 22
21.00: Domino and parchís tournaments.
Tuesday June 23
19.30: Cycle ride for all ages, starting at the Teleclub.
21.00: Porras tournament.
Wednesday June 24
21.00: Magic night with a show by Mingo.
21.00: Caliche tournament.
Thursday June 25
18.00: Traditional games, sack races and the like for children. Protective headgear is recommended! Registration 3 euros.
21.00: Subastao tournament.
Friday June 26
21.00: The annual migas competition, in which locals compete to make the best version of this traditional dish.
21.00: The fiestas open-air bar opens for the weekend, with free entry into a prize draw for every purchase made and DJ music.
Saturday July 4
19.30: The annual post-fiestas country hike is held for the 12th time, starting at the Teleclub and heading up to the viewing point of the Cabezo de la Caracola, where a snack is offered before the return along the Camino de la Umbría. Registration is required at 5 euros (free for under 13s).
