June 13 Pilgrimage from Caravaca de la Cruz to Cehegín

A two-hour walk to pay tribute to the Virgen de las Maravillas in Cehegín

2025 marked the 300th anniversary of the reception in Cehegín of the carved figure representing the Virgen de las Maravillas, which has been revered by the local population ever since, and on Saturday 13^th June a short pilgrimage is being held from the neighbouring Holy City of Caravaca de la Cruz to pay homage to the statue and the Virgin.

The events of the day begin for walkers at the magnificent old church of El Salvador in Caravaca at 18.30, and two hours later, once in Cehegín, there is a Holy Mass presided over by the Bishop of Zamora (Monseñor Fernando Valera) in the church of San Antonio de Padua.

At 21.30 the figure of the Virgen de las Maravillas is carried to the parish church of San Antonio, where she will spend a few days before returning to her usual home in the Convento de San Esteban.

At the end of the procession a bus service is available to take participants back to Caravaca de la Cruz.
