Jumilla botanical garden reopens after a 6-month improvement program
The La Estacada garden in Jumilla is one of the most popular of its kind in the Region of Murcia
The beautiful botanical garden of La Estacada, just outside the town of Jumilla in north-western Murcia, has reopened to the public this week after improvements which required an investment of more than 627,000 euros, according to a Town Hall statement. reabre al público tras una importante obra de mejora y restauración paisajística
Those familiar with the park, which occupies an area of around 20,000 square metres and has become one of the most popular gardens of its kind in the Region of Murcia, will soon become accustomed to the new features, which include play areas for children, areas accessible for those of limited mobility and new illumination. All of this has been achieved over a period of 6 months as Jumilla continues its Sustainable Tourism plan, making good use of EU funding.
One of the main new features is a “sensorial garden”, and this sits alongside the pond (which has been renovated in various ways), and the more than 150 species of ornamental plants, trees, flowers and shrubs contained inside, which in turn attract a large number of bird species. In fact, another of the improvements implemented is the conversion of the already existing bird cages into a kind of environmental display.
The garden reopened to the public on Tuesday June 3 and will be welcoming visitors during the summer opening hours of 8.00 to 22.00. For the remainder of the year it will close in the evening at 20.00.
