Hello, and thank you for choosing sanjavier.today to publicise your organisation’s info or event.
San Javier Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.
When submitting text to be included on San Javier Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:

Attach the information in a Word Document or Google Doc
Include all relevant points, including:
Who is the organisation running the event?
Where is it happening?
When?
How much does it cost?
Is it necessary to book beforehand, or can people just show up on the day?
…but try not to exceed 300 words
Also attach a photo to illustrate your article, no more than 100kb
July 31 to August 21 The 55th annual International Theatre, Music and Dance Festival in San Javier
16 performances and 2 family workshops in San Javier, Santiago de la Ribera and La Manga del Mar Menor
The 55thInternational Festival of Theatre, Music and Dance in San Javier gets under way on Thursday 31st July with a free concert by soprano Pilar Jurado and the Region of Murcia Symphony Orchestra (OSRM), beginning at 22.00 in the open-air auditorium of Parque Almansa, and continues for the next three weeks with a wide variety of events for all tastes.
Most of the performances are in the Parque Almansa and there are various free shows, as well as some which transcend language barriers as they use the media of dance, music and visual representation.

Thursday July 31
22.00: Soprano Pilar Jurado and the Region of Murcia Symphony Orchestra in the Auditorio Parque Almansa. Admission free of charge. Click here for further information.
Friday August 1
22.00: Finale, classical dance in the Plaza de España with the Delrevés company in the heart of San Javier. Music by Saint-Saëns and Tchaikovsky. Admission free of charge.
Sunday August 3
22.00: Un Tranvía Llamado Deseo, a Spanish language version of A Streetcar Named Desire, in the Auditorio Parque Almansa. Tickets 20 euros, available online here.
Wednesday August 6
22.30: La Desconquista, a blend of comedy verse and music based on the theme of a 16th century shipwreck involving New World explorers, in the Auditorio Parque Almansa. Tickets 20 euros, available online here.
August 7 and 8
22.30: Camino a La Meca, based on The Owl House, Spanish language drama at the Teatro de Invierno in Parque Almansa. Tickets 20 euros, available online here.
Saturday August 9
22.30: Magnificat, Le Sacre du Printemps, dance with choreography based on JS Bach’s Magnificat, in the Auditorio Parque Almansa. Tickets 20 euros, available online here.
Sunday August 10
22.30: Ambulant, a circus-based drama in the Auditorio Parque Almansa. Tickets 15 euros, available online here.
Monday August 11
20.00: A free family workshop entitled “Los Sueños de Shakespeare” (The Dreams of Shakespeare) on the Playa del Pescador in Santiago de la Ribera. Suitable for youngsters aged 3 and over. Registration through cultura@sanjavier.es.
Tuesday August 12
22.00: Tres Tristes Trolls, a tongue-twisting title for this free circus and dance show created by Dario Dumont and Greta García at the Puerto Tomás Maestre in La Manga del Mar Menor.
Wednesday August 13
A free family workshop entitled “Quijote y Sancho” , based on the characters created by Miguel de Cervantes, on the Playa del Pescador in Santiago de la Ribera. Suitable for youngsters aged 3 and over. Registration through cultura@sanjavier.es.
Thursday August 14
22.30: Los Dos Hidalgo de Verona, a Spanish language version of Shakespeare’s Two Gentlemen of Verona in the Auditorio Parque Almansa. Tickets 25 euros, available online here.
Friday August 15
22.00: Olympics, interactive visual comedy involving four athletes who have not been selected to compete in the Games so they decide to hold their own competition. This free show is in the Jardines del Príncipe de Asturias in Santiago de la Ribera.
Saturday August 16
22.30: Memorias de Adriano, Spanish language drama based on the memories of the only Roman Emperor to have been born in Spain (known as Hadrian in English), in the Auditorio Parque Almansa. Tickets 20 euros, available online here.
Monday August 18
22.30: La Canción de los Ausentes. The local San Javier Theatre Group perform in the Auditorio Parque Almansa. Tickets 10 euros, available online here.
Tuesday August 19
22.30: Volar con los Pies en el Suelo, a comic reconstruction of the history of drama by Rafael Álvarez “El Brujo” in the Auditorio Parque Almansa. Tickets 15 euros, available online here.
Wednesday August 20
22.00: Candelaria, a staged dance ritual in the Plaza de España. Admission free of charge.
Thursday August 21
22.30: Numancia, a version of the work by Miguel de Cervantes, a drama set in Roman times, when the General Scipio was sent to fight against the city of Numancia after his conquest of what is now Cartagena. Venue: AUditio Parque Almansa. Tickets 25 euros available online here.
