July 29 A history and wine tour in Lorca
Combine the history and heritage of Lorca with the local wine and gastronomy
A new attraction has been added to the range of tours and visits in Lorca for the summer of 2026, enabling visitors to combine the historical and architectural heritage, gastronomy and wine culture of the historic city in just one relaxed guided tour of the old centre.
The tour, organized by winery El Parloteo and Lorca Taller del Tiempo, begins at 20.00 at the Visitors Centre of La Merced and follows a route leading to the old city gate of the Porche de San Antonio, Calle Cava and the Plaza de España, home to the Town Hall and the magnificent Ex-Collegiate Church of San Patricio. From there it’s on to Calle Santiago and the church of Santiago, where the patron saint of Spain is said to have arrived in the years shortly after the death of Christ.
The final port of call is at around 21.00 in Calle Mata, where groups enter an old noble house built in 1789 which has also been used as a police station and a prison, and here there is a tasting of three wines with pairings, all sourced locally: this is now the home of the winery El Parloteo.
Registration to join this tour, which is deemed appropriate only for over-18s, is priced at 35 euros and is available online here.
For more visiting information, local events and news contact the tourist office at the Palacio de Guevara (telephone 968 441914) or go to the home page of Lorca Today.
