San Javier Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.
When submitting text to be included on San Javier Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:

Attach the information in a Word Document or Google Doc
Include all relevant points, including:
Who is the organisation running the event?
Where is it happening?
When?
How much does it cost?
Is it necessary to book beforehand, or can people just show up on the day?
…but try not to exceed 300 words
Also attach a photo to illustrate your article, no more than 100kb

July 27 to August 21 Sports events in Jumilla as the annual fiestas are celebrated
Football, running, racket sports, swimming and others as Jumilla harvests the wine grape crop
The annual Fiestas de la Vendimia (grape-picking fiestas) in Jumilla take place this year from 14th to 23rd August, coinciding with the time of year when the activity in the town centres around the need to ensure that the fruit grown in local vineyards makes its way in prime condition to the numerous wineries in the area, and as usual there are a host of sporting events scheduled as the north of the Region of Murcia celebrates the end of another 12-month campaign and the beginning of the all-important production cycle.
The 2026 schedule includes no fewer than 10 events, ranging from chess to tennis and football, with the following dates now inked in on the calendar:
Starting July 27
The 26th annual Ciudad de Jumilla tennis tournament, organized by Club de Tenis Jumilla at the Polideportivo La Hoya, with the finals on 1st August.
August 6 to 8
The 26th annual Ciudad de Jumilla handball tournament in the Pabellón Carlos García, organized by Club Balonmano Jumilla.
Friday August 14
20.30: Football, the Trofeo Fiesta de la Vendimia sees Jumilla ACF take on Calasparra at the Uva Monastrell ground.
20.30: The Night Chess tournament at the Mariano Suárez primary school, held by Club Ajedrez Coímbra.
Saturday August 15
9.00: The 46th edition of the Cross Feria y Fiestas running event, with younger age group races before the main event. Registration is open online here (free of charge). at alcanzatumeta.es
Monday August 17
The 27th table tennis and badminton tournaments and the 3x3 basketball and pickleball tournaments get under way at 9.00 at the Pabellón Carlos García.
Friday August 21
9.00: The swimming championships begin at the municipal pool in Polideportivo La Hoya.
