July 21 Free guided hike to Cala Salitrona in Cabo Tiñoso
Mazarrón tourist office offers a testing walk down to one of the coves on the eastern side of Cabo Tiñoso
This mountain walk is being held on the headland of Cabo Tiñoso, close to the gun batteries of Castillitos, and although this lies in the municipality of Cartagena the event is organized by the tourist office of Mazarrón.
The route is on the north-eastern side of Cabo Tiñoso, which looks out towards Cartagena, and is a fairly difficult one: half of the 9 kilometres is descent to the point where the floodwater channel of La Chapa runs into the Mediterranean, and the return trek, logically is uphill.
It is expected to last 3 hours, at which point walkers will return to their own vehicles, which will have been left at the pre-appointed spot.
For a walk of these characteristics drinking water and sturdy footwear are absolutely essential, and Nordic walking sticks or poles are advised. Once registered, those taking part will be notified of exactly where the walk starts at 18.00 (ending as the daylight begins to disappear).
Online registration is available here and participants will be required to register their ID number.
