July 2026 Evening tours and dinner at Lorca castle
A full evening package including guided tour and dinner in the Las Caballerizas restaurant inside the Fortress of the Sun
Every summer the management of Lorca castle, one of the most iconic medieval fortifications in southern Spain, offers a selection of evening events to appeal to all members of the public, and 2026 is no exception with this complete package offering a great experience at the impregnable Fortress of the Sun.
From the 13th to the late 15th century Lorca castle stood on the frontier between two civilizations the Christian lands which had been taken from the Moors in the “Reconquista” and the Islamic kingdom of Andalucía, and the guided tours held during these special visiting evenings include the chance to see the western side of the castle compound. This includes the remains of the remarkable 15th-century synagogue, the church of San Clemente and the Aljibe Grande, the largest of the water cisterns which were vital to maintaining life within the castle walls, especially in times of danger or siege.
But there's more to Lorca castle nowadays than ramparts and towers, and this tour is followed by a mouth-watering dinner in the Las Caballerizas restaurant, located in the main courtyard of the castle alongside the magnificent Torre Alfonsina, named after King Alfonso X "The Wise" (1252-84).
The visit begins at 20.30 with dinner (under the stars, unless you're very unlucky!) 90 minutes later at 22.00. Those joining the group are advised to arrive 20 minutes or so before the start.
These tours take place in July on Fridays and Saturdays, and the package is priced at 44.95 euros for adults and 19.95 euros for children. Booking is available online here.
Further information is available by telephone on 968 479003 and 968 959646 and by email at info@lorcatallerdeltiempo.com and recepcion.fortaleza@lorca.net.
