July 18 Guided tour in Lorca, Eclecticism in the cemetery of San Clemente
Explore the architecture and anecdotes in the quiet setting of the main Lorca cemetery
The cemetery of San Clemente in Lorca is a fine place to admire the eclecticism of tastes in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and a series of guided tours illustrates this artistic trend with a walk around some of the main monuments, tombstones and pantheons which have been built here over the year.
Modernist designs feature prominently, especially from the boom years around the start of the 20th century, and some historical curiosities regarding those whose remains were interred here are also highlighted.
The tour begins at the main entrance to the cemetery and lasts around an hour, with a minimum group size of 10 required. Tickets are priced at 12.75 euros for adults and 9.75 euros for 13- to 16-year-olds. Prior booking is essential online here.
NOTE: please arrive before the start time of 19.00.
Address: Diseminado Torrecilla, 221 (click for map)
