July 18 and 25 Dramatized evening tours and dinner in Lorca castle
Enjoy a full evening at the historic Fortress of the Sun in Lorca
There was a time when Lorca castle, now a fascinating tourist attraction and a rich source of historical information, was an active military fortification on the frontier between the Christian kingdoms of what is now Spain and the Islamic kingdom of Al- Andalus, and these evening dramatized tours of the “Fortress of the Sun” are led by a military character from that period of the Middle Ages.
This was when the history and identity of Lorca was forged and these evenings are an ideal way to discover more about one of the most iconic monuments in the Region of Murcia. Learn about the conquest of Lorca by prince Alfonso (Later King Alfonso X) of Castile in 1244 and recreate the world in which it took place, and which led to the city wall being built in order to protect the population around the fortress.
Then, round your evening off with a delicious dinner in the Las Caballerizas del Castillo de Lorca restaurant, where locally sourced produce is lovingly prepared and presented alongside the imposing keep of the Torre Alfonsina.
These tours are being held 21.00 on Friday 18th and 25th July, with dinner served at 22.30. Booking is available online here at 39.95 euros for adults and 19.95 euros for children.
Further information is available by telephone on 968 479003 and 968 959646 and by email at info@lorcatallerdeltiempo.com and recepcion.fortaleza@lorca.net.
