July 17 a new exhibition of prehistoric milling and grinding stones opens in Jumilla
Trace the development of early food technology at the Jerónimo Molina Archaeology Museum in Jumilla
Since way before the beginning of recorded history the different techniques and tools used to grind and mill cereals and seeds have been of fundamental importance to the history and development of Mankind, and yet they have been largely overlooked by scientific researchers.
This new exhibition contains a selection of artefacts related to milling in different historical eras, including mills, pestles, mortars and other simple implements, and the differences among them highlight how different leaps forward have been made by different civilizations and societies over the millennia.
The exhibition opens at the Jerónimo Molina Archaeology Museum in the Plaza de Arriba on 17th July at 20.30 and can be visited in the usual opening hours (Tuesday to Saturday 10.00 to 14.00 and 17.00 to 20.00, Sundays and public holidays 11.00 to 14.00).
