July 15 Lady Blackbird at the 2025 San Javier International Jazz Festival
One of the leading new performers in modern soul at the open-air auditorium of Parque Almansa in San Javier!
TICKETS FOR THE 27th SAN JAVIER JAZZ FESTIVAL CAN BE PURCHASED ONLINE HERE
Lady Blackbird has shot to stardom as the new leading lady of jazz, having had the chutzpah to adopt as her stage name the title of one of Nina Simone’s best-known songs. Her fiery grace has been compared to that of Marilyn Monroe, and although her first album, Black Acid Soul, was not released until as recently as 2021, it won great praise for the maturity and sensitivity of the songs and her singing.
At the same time, her vibrant personality has led her to be described by Gilles Peterson as “the Grace Jones of jazz”, and having performed at the Montreux Festival in 2022 she later appeared at the Cartagena jazz festival, making her no stranger to the Region of Murcia.
She is a fantastic composer and singer with an unusual stage talent, creating an intelligent blend of jazz, soul and blues, and with her new album "Slang Spirituals", she adds glimpses of gospel, neo-soul and even disco music to her repertoire. With a wonderful voice, an exuberant and, at times, magical sound and a brilliant and intoxicating stage presence, there is no doubting the great talent of this incredible artist.
