Singer, pianist, and composer Mar Vilaseca, born in Barcelona, received classical training in piano and harmony at the Liceu Conservatory and holds a degree in Jazz Voice Performance from the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya. She moved to New York to pursue a Master's in Jazz at The Juilliard School, studying under professors such as Wynton Marsalis, Carla Cook, and Kenny Washington, and now pursues her career in the United States, regularly performing in some of North America's top jazz venues.
Mar offers a repertoire that connects jazz with bolero, including tracks from "Bebop & Boleros”, a collaborative project with American trumpeter and singer Tony Glausi, which debuted at the Birdland Jazz Club in New York in 2023. At the San Javier festival the project makes its debut in Spain, with Tony Glausi himself, renowned bassist Russell Hall, and two great musicians from our country: Mar’s father, Jaume Vilaseca, on piano, and Esteve Pi on drums.
