San Javier Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.
When submitting text to be included on San Javier Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:

Attach the information in a Word Document or Google Doc
Include all relevant points, including:
Who is the organisation running the event?
Where is it happening?
When?
How much does it cost?
Is it necessary to book beforehand, or can people just show up on the day?

January 25 Guided hike in the Sierra de la Pila in north-east Murcia
The hikers of Caravaca organize a trip out in north-eastern Murcia
The D’Ruta series of hiking expeditions organized by the enthusiasts of Caravaca de la Cruz continues on Sunday 25th January with an 11-km route in the Sierra de la Pila, including climbs and descents of 710 metres.
Part of the Sub-Betic range, the Sierra de la Pila lies in the municipalities of Molina de Segura, Abarán, Blanca, Fortuna and Jumilla and is a protected area. The highest points are La Pila itself (1,264 metres above sea level and Los Cenajos (1,200m) in the east and Caramucel (1,023m) in the west and includes beauty spots such as Fuente de la Higuera and La Umbría de los Cenajos.
Among the wildlife which can be seen in the mountains are the imperial eagle, the peregrine falcon and the eagle owl, while there are also two species of bat and the great capricorn beetle!
Those wishing to take part in this hike can register online at sporttia.com/eventos as of Monday 19th January, with the cost amounting to 4 euros for mountaineering federation members and 7 euros for others.
