January 23 and 24 The Francisco Rubio amateur dramatics festival in San Javier

Companies from Cartagena and the Basque Country perform at the Winter Theatre in San Javier

The annual “Francisco Rubio” amateur dramatics festival at the Teatro de Invierno (Parque Almansa) in San Javier draws to a close over the weekend of January 23 to 25 with the last two performances on Friday and Saturday followed by the prize-winning ceremony on Sunday evening.

On Friday 23^rd January at 21.00 the Entre Dos theatre company from Cartagena perform their own work “Demasiadas Mujeres”, telling the story of two actresses on the day of their big début, racked by doubt and insecurity in the dressing room before the curtain goes up.

This is followed by a change of tone on Saturday 24^th January at 20.00, when it’s the turn of the Ezezaguknok company from Irún in the Basque Country to present “Exácticamente Diversa”, an inclusive adaptation of Alice in Wonderland which encourages the audience to celebrate and embrace diversity.

Admission to the theatre is free of charge for both shows (which are, of course, in Spanish).

The prize-giving ceremony is held on Sunday 25^th January at 19.00.
