Improvements imminent on coast road from Mazarrón to Águilas
1.2 million euros for resurfacing and other work on the road to Ramonete and Cañada de Gallego
A budget of precisely 1,210,971 euros has been agreed for plans to repair and improve the old road along the coast between the municipalities of Lorca and Mazarrón, allowing safer and more comfortable journeys along one of the more scenic routes in south-western Murcia.
This is not the quickest route between Mazarrón and Águilas (the AP-7 toll motorway takes that prize) and in fact the RM-332 does not even reach the city of Lorca, instead joining the Lorca-Águilas motorway not far north of the latter, but it is used by almost 2 million vehicles a year. Much of this is due to drivers avoiding the toll charges, and also to the need for numerous people to reach the villages and agricultural concerns of Ramonete and Cañada de Gallego.
It is anticipated that the work should last for approximately 8 months, with the main tasks being the reinforcement of the road Surface and the creation of 5.3 kilometres of pavement area. In addition, drainage ditches are to be cleared and new signposting is to be installed.
