Free parking in Lorca city centre during August

The Town Hall in Lorca lifts parking restrictions for the entire month

One of the few disadvantages of visiting the city of Lorca is, for the most part of the year, the lack of parking spaces in and around the centre, but of course in August the whole rhythm of inland cities in Spain slows down and the amount of traffic on the roads decreases significantly.

In Lorca, this means there are generally far more parking spaces available and, due to the collaboration of the Town Hall, those usually reserved for residents, traders and the ORA parking fee scheme are free of charge! The lifting of charges applies to all the blue zones throughout the month of August, meaning that there’s no need to shell out a couple of euros and keep an eye on your watch as you stroll around the town in case your time limit is approaching – or to install the EasyPark app on your phone.

The new municipal ruling also affects the green parking spaces which are usually reserved for traders and residents, so if you’re interested in seeing the Palacio de Guevara, the massive church of San Patricio or the varied cafés and restaurants in the city centre the problem of where to park has almost been eliminated from the list of pros and cons!
