Foreigner killed in Magaluf apartment fire that claimed 2 lives and injured 24
A British woman remains in critical condition after a blaze tore through a block in Mallorca's Punta Ballena area

Sources said the fire itself was "very intense, but controllable" from early on, but the real danger came from the smoke, which filled the entire building as the flames took hold. Investigators believe the fire may have started because of an electrical fault in a fridge in one of the third floor flats, though this is still being looked into.
There had been earlier reports suggesting eight firefighters were injured during the operation, but emergency services later clarified that wasn't the case. They explained that after incidents involving this much smoke, firefighters routinely have medical checks afterwards, and this may have been mistaken by some for treatment for injuries.
