Guidelines for submitting articles to San Javier Today
Hello, and thank you for choosing sanjavier.today to publicise your organisation’s info or event.
San Javier Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.
When submitting text to be included on San Javier Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:
Send an email to editor@spaintodayonline.com or contact@murciatoday.com
Attach the information in a Word Document or Google Doc
Include all relevant points, including:
Who is the organisation running the event?
Where is it happening?
When?
How much does it cost?
Is it necessary to book beforehand, or can people just show up on the day?
…but try not to exceed 300 words
Also attach a photo to illustrate your article, no more than 100kb

February 6 to 17 Carnival in Jumilla
A circus show, parades and musical parties in Jumilla to celebrate Carnival
The program has been confirmed for the 2026 Carnival celebrations in Jumilla, which fall earlier than in previous years, providing fun and entertainment for all the family as the town prepares to begin Lent prior to its renowned Easter Week processions.
The program includes the following events between 6th and 17th February 2026:
Friday February 6
20.00: The opening of the exhibition “¿A que no me conoces?” at the Ethnography and Natural Science museum: click here for further details.
Friday February 13
20.00: A Carnival gala at the Teatro Vico, including the opening speech for the upcoming festivities. Click here for further details.
Saturday February 14
13.30: A Crazy Hat competition organized by the residents of the village of La Alquería in Plaza Pedro Cutillas.
17.00: The main Carnival parade begins, starting in Calle Calvario and proceeding along Calle Cura Abellán, Calle Cánovas del Castillo, Calle Pasos, Calle Valencia and Avenida Reyes Católicos before ending in Paseo Poeta Lorenzo Guardiola.
18.00: A party night begins in the Paseo Poeta Lorenzo Guardiola, lasting until 6.00 in the morning (for those who have the stamina!).
Sunday February 15
18.00: The parade of El Tío del Higuico begins in the Jardín de las Ranas, proceeding along Calle Cánocas del Castillo to the Teatro Vico.
19.00: The comic musical group of Los Fundeplomos perform at the Teatro Vico.
Monday February 16
12.00: The schoolchildren’s parade, starting in Calle Trabajo and ending in Paseo Poeta Lorenzo Guardiola.
20.00: A presentation on the Carnival celebrations in Jumilla at the Ethnography and Natural Science museum.
Tuesday February 17
18.00: EL Reventón, the final blow-out of Carnival in the Jardín de las Ranas, featuring food, drink, live music and, of course, masks!
