February 28 Olympic style wrestling in San Javier
The national championships are being held at the Príncipe Felipe de Borbón sports pavilion.
There’s a rare chance to see some of Spain’s top Olympic-style wrestlers in action in San Javier on Saturday 28th February, when the national Copa del Rey and Copa de la Reina are held at the Príncipe Felipe de Borbón sports pavilion (click for map).
The combats begin at 15.30 with the preliminary rounds and the competitions continue until 19.30, when the trophy ceremonies are scheduled. After this tournament the selection will be made for the team to represent Spain at the Mediterranean games in Tarranto (Italy) in late August, and local interest is guaranteed with the participation of Carlos Vives and Britany Luzuriaga from the Region of Murcia.
Wrestling has been popular in San Javier and the surrounding area for a few years now, and the national squad train nearby at the CAR centre in Los Alcázares.
