February 15-March 8 A spectacle of colour at the Torrevieja Carnival
Comedy shows, parades, music and even a Drag Queen Competition in Torrevieja this month
The month-long Torrevieja Carnival 2025 is already in full swing after the festival kings and queens were crowned at a coronation gala on Saturday February 8, but the best is yet to come. Over the next three weeks, the
Costa Blanca city will welcome thousands of visitors and the streets will be thronged with colour and music.
One of the most anticipated events is without doubt the XVI National Drag Queen Competition ‘Ciudad de Torrevieja’, which will take place on Saturday February 15 at the International Auditorium. Hosted by ‘La Plexy’ with lots of special guests like ‘Bella Vampi’, this competition will be a great display of creativity, art and extravagance.
Prepare for plenty of belly laughs on Sunday February 16 with the return of the ‘Teatrico del Carnaval’ to the Municipal Theatre. This is a very unique comedy performance with a throw-back to the Torrevieja of old.
On Friday February 21, the streets will be filled with music and colour with the VI ‘Quedada Carnavalera’, a festive parade route that will go from the Plaza de la Constitución to the Plaza de Oriente.
One of the highlights of the Carnival will be the Grand Parade Competition on Sunday February 23, where the participants will dazzle with spectacular costumes and a brand new display.
Since the festivities are designed to be enjoyed by all ages, on February 25 and 26 the city's schools will host themed workshops and parades, while on Thursday February 27, the Municipal Leisure Centre will be the stage for the Senior Citizens' Carnival, a day of costumes, music and joy.
On Friday February 28, two key events will take place: the VI Children's Parade ‘El Carnaval de los Coles’ and the Parade Competition of Foreign Comparsas, which will bring together groups from all over the country in a competition full of energy and talent.
To close with a flourish, on Saturday March 1 the Grand Night Parade will be held, a spectacle of lights, rhythms and fantasy that will conclude with a huge party and awards ceremony.
Finally, on Sunday March 2, the International Auditorium will host the National Competition of Comparsas and Chirigotas, a first-ever event in the city.
The 2025 Torrevieja Carnival will end on March 8 with the traditional Piñata Dance, a night of costumes, music and fun at the Torrevieja Casino Cultural Society.
