San Javier Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.
When submitting text to be included on San Javier Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:
Send an email to editor@spaintodayonline.com or contact@murciatoday.com
Attach the information in a Word Document or Google Doc
Include all relevant points, including:
Who is the organisation running the event?
Where is it happening?
When?
How much does it cost?
Is it necessary to book beforehand, or can people just show up on the day?
…but try not to exceed 300 words
Also attach a photo to illustrate your article, no more than 100kb

December 4 Free original language screening of Jeremiah Johnson starring Robert Redford in Lorca
The 2025 Cineclub Paradiso season of free screenings is under way in Lorca
The annual Cineclub Paradiso season of film screenings is under way at the Municipal Plastic Arts school in the Sutullena district of Lorca, featuring a series of free events between October and December 2025.
Among these are two screenings of Jeremiah Johnson, directed by Sydney Pollack and starring Robert Redford, Will Geer and Allyn Ann Mclerie, on Thursday 4th December. The first show is in Spanish and begins at 18.30, while the screening at 21.30 is in original language version.
This film dates from 1972 and Redford himself stated that it was one of his favourites. The plot of the movie concerns a Mexican War veteran named Jeremiah Johnson who becomes a mountain inhabitant, supporting himself in the Rocky Mountains and learning how to live with (and hunt) bears as well as communicating with the native Indians.
Admission is free of charge.
The remainder of the season consists of the following:
Thursday October 30: Jóvenes ocultos (The Lost Boys), directed by Joel Schumacher and starring Kiefer Sutherland, Jason Patric, Corey Feldman (1987). Starts 20.00.
Wednesday November 5: Cine Forum on the role of women in rural society, featuring “Los pequeños amores” (18.30).
Thursday November 13: Perfect Days, directed by Wim Wenders, starring Koji Yakusho, Arisa Nakano, Tokio Emoto (Japan 2024). Two screenings at 18.30 and 21.30.
Thursday November 20: Sorda, directed by Eva Libertad (Spain 2025). Two screenings at 18.30 and 21.30.
Thursday November 27: Vermiglio, directed by Maura Delpero, starring Tommaso Ragno, Giuseppe de Domenico, Roberta Ravelli (Italy 2024). Two screenings at 18.30 and 21.30.
December 11 and 12: local short film festival, “A Corta Distancia”, 18.30 on both dates.
