December 27 Stargazing and wine in the historic Caravaca village of La Encarnación
Follow the example of the shepherds and the Three Wise Men with a little late December star-watching!
As an alternative to the Christmas TV schedules and the turkey sandwiches, why not venture out to the countryside of Caravaca de la Cruz and the historic site of the old Roman ruins in the village of La Encarnación, where on Saturday 27th December this unusual astronomy and wine-tasting event is being held beneath the stars.
The event begins at 18.00 at the site of the Roman ruins and the small church which was built on top of them, and starts off with a tasting of some of the wines produced by Bodega Balcona: a red, a white and a rosé, matching the trinity of the Three Wise Men (themselves famed watchers of the stars, of course!). There is then a guided stargazing session under the clear skies of the north of Murcia to round off the evening (please note, dinner is not included).
It goes without saying the warm clothing is a must for this event, and that due to the consumption of wine it is not suitable for under-18s. Booking is available online here at a price of 35 euros.
The visit may be cancelled if there are not enough participants or in the case of adverse weather conditions, in which case full refunds will be provided.
For more local events, news and visiting information contact the local tourist office (telephone 968 702424) or go to the home page of Caravaca Today.
