December 27 Music by Beethoven and Mozart in a Christmas concert in Caravaca
Symphonía Deitania promises an evening of great music in the magnificent church of El Salvador
Symphonía Deitania is the name of a small orchestra of 33 professional musicians from Caravaca de la Cruz and the other municipalities in the north-west of Murcia, led by director and conductor Jesús Ortega Martínez, who also works with the Bayer-Philharmoniker in Munich.
On Saturday 27th December they are offering a special Christmas concert at the church of El Salvador in Caravaca, organized by local newspaper El Noroeste in collaboration with the Town Hall and other sponsors, and on the programme are the Overture from the Marriage of Figaro by Mozart and the Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony.
The event is being held to raise funds for the charity AFACMUR, which helps the families of children with cancer in the Region of Murcia, and tickets are available at 15 euros from Librerías Cervantes, Endrino y Rosendo, Nueva Joyería and Culturart in Caravaca as well as Visión Óptica and Librería Librillos in the neighbouring town of Cehegín.
For those simply wanting to help a good cause without actually attending the concert, a “row zero” bank account has been set up (account number ES89 2100 9148 1813 0006 7126).
For more local events, news and visiting information contact the local tourist office (telephone 968 702424) or go to the home page of Caravaca Today.
