December 13 Gala celebration of the annual fiestas in Yecla
Singer Sole Giménez tops the bill as Yecla celebrates the passion, emotion and spectacle of its annual Fiestas de la Virgen
The annual fiestas of Yecla, which are held every year in early December in honour of the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception (referred to simply as “La Virgen” in this part of the world), are now over for 2025 but the sentiment and spectacle associated with them is being commemorated on Saturday 13th December with a gala entitled “Yecla soñó con su Virgen” at the Teatro Concha Segura.
The show includes dance, music and spoken texts, a mix designed to evoke all the emotion of the Fiestas de la Virgen, which in 2025 was awarded International Tourist Interest status due in part to the passion with which the locals join in and in part to the sheer spectacle of the firing of hundreds of replica arquebuses during the processions!
Among those taking part is singer Sole Giménez, who rose to stardom decades ago as the singer of the popular group Presuntos Implicados, and who has since worked with artists such as Joaquín Sabina, María Dolores Pradera, Joan Manuel Serrat, Víctor Manuel, Herbie Hancock, Randy Crawford, Ana Torroja, Miguel Ríos and Ana Belén.
The show on 13th December at 20.00 and tickets are available for 10 euros at the Asociación de Mayordomos (Calle Niño Jesús, 8 telephone 794850), with all funds raised going to the local branch of the charity Cáritas.
More visiting information is available from the tourist office of Yecla or, for more local events, news and visiting information in English, go to the home page of Yecla Today.
