British woman arrested as part of a drug gang operating in Alicante
Seven people in total were detained by the Guardia Civil as of part the drug trafficking group
In an operation named ‘Bald River’ the Guardia Civil has successfully dismantled a drug sales point in
Jávea and arrested seven people in connection with drug trafficking and the illegal possession of weapons.
The detainees are a British woman, aged 37, a 60-year-old Spanish man, and five Moroccan men, aged between 17 and 36. The group of seven has been charged with drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons. The gang has since been brought before the Investigating Court No. 1 of Denia.
Back in 2024, after the Civil Guard of Jávea discovered that numerous drug possession offences were taking place in the old town of the municipality, close to the premises of a certain house, they became suspicious and began watching the house more carefully.
It was necessary for the Guardia Civil to clarify the facts around exactly what was happening before the operation could begin. They then reinforced its presence in the area, with the support of the local police, and also began to establish discreet surveillance in the area.
It was at that moment that investigations confirmed that the home in question was being used for the continuous transfer of people to buy and sell narcotic substances. The transactions of illegal drugs were carried out in a matter of seconds, making detection difficult for the Guardia Civil.
Moreover, it was at this time that the presence of so-called “water carriers” were confirmed. The job of the water carriers was one of surveillance as they watched the police and alerted the traffickers whenever the agents were present around the house.
The Guardia Civil eventually entered and searched the house, with the support of the Citizen Security Unit (USECIC), the Canine Service of the Alicante Command and the Territorial Team of the Judicial Police (ETPJ).
Various narcotic substances, cash and an arsenal of weapons were seized inside the house upon searching the premises. In total the agents seized:
- Drugs: 140 grams of hashish, 35 grams of marijuana, 13.64 grams of cocaine divided into 23 doses and 0.6 grams of heroin.
- Money and items for sale: 1,446 euros in cash, precision scales and a walkie-talkie.
- Firearms and knives: A 12-gauge over-and-under shotgun, a 4.5-gauge air rifle, 12-gauge cartridges, a katana, a knife and two pocket knives.
