Berber Pirate Raids fiestas lead a hugely successful Easter for the tourism sector in Los Alcázares
Hotels in Los Alcázares report 100 per cent occupancy rates during Semana Santa 2025
Citing data compiled over the fiestas of Semana Santa, Los Alcázares councillor for Tourism María José Díaz Aragón believes that the fiestas of the Berber Pirate Raids are now sufficiently well-established to warrant official recognition through the awarding of “Regional Tourist Interest” status.
This Easter was a hugely successful one of the tourism sector of the local economy, with approximately 220,000 visitors to the municipality and a hotel occupancy rate of over 90%, according to the councillor. Of course much of this is due to the popularity of the beaches on the Mar Menor during the spring holidays, but it is also certain that after only 25 years the Fiestas de las Incursiones Berberiscas has become a very popular alternative to the solemn processions which are held in almost every other part of Spain!
Among the hotel occupancy date the most impressive were those reported by Hotel Cristina, Hotel Balneario La Encarnación, Apartamentos Encarnación and Apartamentos Margoysa, al lof which were able to bring out the “No Vacancies” signs. Other high rates were reported at Hotel Costa Narejos (91%), Hotel Atrio del Mar (85%), Apartamentos 525 (85%), El Cordobés (80%) and Hotel 525 (80%).
