Alicante speed cameras nab over 15,000 drivers but make roads safer
New radars on key avenues cut average speeds and violations by more than half in first nine months
Alicante's new speed cameras have been busy since they switched on, catching 15,074 drivers going over the 50 km/h limit across the city's main roads in their first nine months from 17 January to 17 October. This comes as the DGT prepares average speed section controls on nearby A-7 and A-31 routes. But the real win, according to the Urban Mobility Department, is how they've slowed things down overall, making streets safer, quieter and cleaner. You might also be interested in: Speed camera alerts and the fine line between legal and illegal devices
