A runaway success for the hastily rearranged Gastromar festival in Los Alcázares!
11,000 visitors consumed 19,000 tapas over the weekend in Los Alcázares
This year’s Gastromar festival in Los Alcázares seemed to have the odds stacked against it being a success, as it had to be postponed from its original dates in October due to the flooding caused by Storm Alice, and this resulted in much of the programme having to be altered and changed at short notice so that it could be held between 14th and 15th November.
However, the Town Hall reports that it was a great success, reaffirming its status as one of the most important gastro fairs of the Region of Murcia. As many as 11,000 people are estimated to have visited Los Alcázares over the weekend and they certainly ate well as they consumed 19,000 tapas. 2,000 of those present were here for the first time, and around 700 took part in the tours, tastings and cooking workshops and other events which were staged over the three days.
More than anything, there was a great atmosphere in the Plaza Manuel Floreal, as the images accompanying the article show!
