Region of Murcia public holiday calendar 2026 released already: These are the 12 national and regional festivos next year
Each year, the Region of Murcia has over a dozen public bank holidays for the various fiestas dotted throughout the calendar, and the schedule of 2026 ‘festivos’, as they are known, has already been revealed.

There are around eight festivos which are a public holiday at a national level, so the whole of Spain will be off work and school regardless of whether they live in Murcia, Melilla or Mallorca.

Then there are a further four festivos which are decided at the autonomic level, which in this case apply to the entire Region of Murcia. In actuality, three of these almost always correspond to national holidays, too, while one is normally reserved for that autonomous community’s own special day. For the Region of Murcia, this is the Día de la Región de Murcia, which is on June 9 each year.

Finally, each municipality in Spain decides two more of its own festivos each year, at least one of which often coincides with the feast day of the local patron saint.

These will be the public holidays in the Region of Murcia in 2026

The twelve national holidays for 2026 will be January 1 (New Year’s Day), January 6 (El Día de los Reyes Magos), March 19 (San José), April 2 (Maundy Thursday), April 3 (Good Friday), May 1 (May Day/Labour Day), August 15 (Feast of the Assumption), October 12 (Spain Day), November 1 (All Saints’ Day), December 6 (Spanish Constitution Day), December 8 (Immaculate Conception) and December 25 (Christmas Day).

In addition to these, the Region of Murcia has chosen its regional holiday to be taken on June 9, 2026, which falls on a Thursday. But in order to be able to celebrate that public holiday in the Region of Murcia, it will replace November 2, the Monday following Sunday 1 November (All Saints’ Day). There is no November festivo in Murcia for 2026.

So, the bank holidays which have been agreed for the Region of Murcia for 2026 will be:

  1. Thursday January 1
  2. Tuesday January 6
  3. Thursday March 19
  4. Thursday April 2
  5. Friday April 3
  6. Friday May 1
  7. Tuesday June 9
  8. Saturday August 15
  9. Monday October 12
  10. Monday December 7 (moved from Sunday December 6)
  11. Tuesday December 8
  12. Friday December 25

Subsequently, the 45 municipalities of the Region will determine the two local public holidays that traditionally belong to them, thus forming the complete working calendar for next year.
