October 3 and 4 History of the Mar Menor, a seminar in Los Alcázares
A must-see event for local history enthusiasts along the inland shore of the Mar Menor
On Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th October the Town Hall of Los Alcázares is hosting a seminar on the subject of the history of the Mar Menor, with organizers hoping it will prove to be the first of many.
Unsurprisingly, the presentations are all given in Spanish, and the full program for the two days can be found here. The first morning is open to both secondary school groups and members of the general public, and admission to the whole event is free of charge.
One of the highlights may be the screening of a short documentary entitled “A Mirror of the Cosmos” at 12.45 on Friday, and like other presentations the duration is limited to 15 minutes maximum. The subjects include a wide variety of topics, from the history of the Casinos of San Pedro del Pinatar to the defence of the fragile ecosystem of the lagoon.
The entire event will be screened live on the YouTube channel of Ayuntamiento de Los Alcázares and copies of the papers presented will be available only to those who register beforehand either online here or by using the accompanying QR code.
