San Javier Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.
When submitting text to be included on San Javier Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:

Attach the information in a Word Document or Google Doc
Include all relevant points, including:
Who is the organisation running the event?
Where is it happening?
When?
How much does it cost?
Is it necessary to book beforehand, or can people just show up on the day?

November 14 to 23 Annual Fiestas del Milagro in Bolnuevo in Mazarron
"Sardine Sunday" on the beach of Bolnuevo falls on November 23 this year!
The coastal village of Bolnuevo in the municipality of Mazarrón is holding its 2025 Fiestas del Milagro between November 14 and 23 this year, with the celebrations once again revolving around the miraculous events which saved the town from attack by Berber pirates in 1585.
For most people the highlights of the fiestas are the “Romerías”, in which the figure of the Virgen del Milagro is carried first from Bolnuevo to Mazarrón and then, a week later, back to her sanctuary in Bolnuevo, and the final day on the beach, when everyone comes together for a sardine barbecue known by some British expats as Sardine Sunday".
However, there are many other events scheduled in Bolnuevo and the town of Mazarrón during the Fiestas, and the official fiestas program for 2025 includes the following:
Friday November 14
21.30: The opening speech of the fiestas is given by Sonia Yúfera Paredes at the municipal marquee in Bolnuevo, with music provided by saxophonist Benito González.
Saturday November 15
The “Milagro de la Virgen 2025” tapas route begins, lasting until Sunday 23rd November (inclusive).
7.30: “Bolnuevo a Remo y Mar”, a homage to the traditional Jábega fishing technique at the beach of Bolnuevo.
11.00: Free guided tour IN ENGLISH explaining the Miracle, visiting the Torre de los Caballos and the surroundings. Click here for further information and booking details.
13.00: “Nos vemos en los bares 2.0”, music with DJ Yiyo in Avenida Pedro López Meca, the main road of Bolnuevo.
17.00: Free dramatized guided tour in Spanish explaining the Miracle, visiting the Torre de los Caballos and the surroundings. Click here for further information and booking details.
18.00: “Nos vemos en los bares 2.0”, music with Preez DJ in Avenida Pedro López Meca, the main road of Bolnuevo.
22.00: Live music from El Luiso at the municipal marquee in Bolnuevo, followed by DJ music starting at midnight.
Sunday November 16
The first of the two “romerías”, in which the figure of La Purísima is taken to the church of Bolnuevo.
Free buses provided at 8.30 from Mazarrón, stopping at Puerto de Mazarrón before reaching Bolnuevo.
8.45: Free hot chocolate for all those accompanying the procession, outside the church of Bolnuevo.
9.30: The journey begins, with the figure of La Purísima Concepción carried by the faithful on their shoulders. On her arrival at the Jardín de La Purísima in Mazarrón she is welcomed by local dignitaries before completing her journey to the Iglesia-Santuario de La Purísima Concepción, where Mass is held.
13.00: “Nos vemos en los bares 2.0”, music with DJ Faus in Avenida Pedro López Meca, the main road of Bolnuevo.
16.00: “Nos vemos en los bares 2.0”, music with DJ Charri and Carlos García in Avenida Pedro López Meca, the main road of Bolnuevo.
19.30: Holy Mass in the church of San Antonio in Mazarrón.
Monday November 17, a local holiday in the municipality of Mazarrón
10.00: Magic show for children with puppets, illustrating the legend of the Miracle of Bolnuevo. Two sessions from 10.00 to 11.30 and 12.00 to 13.30. Prior registration is required online here.
12.00: Holy Mass and the Blessing of the Oil of the Lamo at the Iglesia Santuario de La Purísima in Mazarrón.
18.30: Holy Mass at the Iglesia Parroquial de San Antonio with a floral offering. Many attending will be in traditional regional costumes.
19.30: Procession of the figure of La Purísima Concepción de Bolnuevo from the church of San Antonio de Padua to the church of San Andrés Apóstol and the Iglesia-Santuario de La Purísima Concepción, where the Oil of the Lamp is distributed. The procession then returns to the church of San Antonio de Padua.
Tuesday November 18
15.00: Petanca tournament at the Gredas de Bolnuevo.
19.30: Holy Mass at the parish church of San Antonio.
Wednesday November 19
19.30: Holy Mass at the parish church of San Antonio.
Thursday November 20
19.30: Holy Mass at the parish church of San Antonio.
20.15: Re-enactment of the 9 Declarations of the Mircale of La Purísima at the Iglesia- Santuario de La Purísima.
Friday November 21
19.30: Holy Mass at the parish church of San Antonio.
21.30: Migas competition outside the Gredas de Bolnuevo neighbours’ association.
23.00: Fiesta Remember with Mateo Dj, Frann Muñoz, Miguel Flores and Di Carlo at the municipal marquee in Bolnuevo.
Saturday November 22
11.00: Free dramatized guided tour in Spanish explaining the Miracle, visiting the Torre de los Caballos and the surroundings. Click here for further information and booking details.
12.00: 2-for-1 at the fairground in Bolnuevo until 14.00.
13.00: “Nos vemos en los bares 2.0”, music with DJ Josemix in Avenida Pedro López Meca, the main road of Bolnuevo.
16.00: “Nos vemos en los bares 2.0”, live music with Geisho at the municipal marquee in Bolnuevo.

16.00: “Nos vemos en los bares 2.0”, music with Carrillo DJ at the municipal marquee in Bolnuevo.
20.00: Holy Mass at the parish church of San Antonio.
22.00: Barullo Party Romería 2025 with Little Nookie, Kaman and Pepe Vera at the municipal marquee in Bolnuevo.
Sunday November 23
The second “romería”, as the figure of La Purísima Concepción returns to the church of Bolnuevo and Sardine Sunday takes place!
Free buses from Bolnuevo to Puerto de Mazarrón and Mazarrón at 4.15, 7.00, 7.30, 10.30, 14.00 and 18.00.
7.30: Holy Mass at the church of San Antonio and a blessing for the bearers who will carry the figure of the Virgin back to Bolnuevo.
On their arrival Mass is held on the beach before the figure is returned to the church.
14.00: The sardine barbecue begins on the beach (officially – many will be there well beforehand)!
16.30: Live music from Vértigo at the municipal marquee in Bolnuevo, followed by a final session from Preez DJ.
