March 2-30 San Javier unveils full March programme to mark International Women's Day
San Javier has just announced a packed programme of events to mark International Women’s Day, with activities running throughout March and aimed at bringing the whole community together around equality.

Councillor for Social Rights and Family, María del Mar Pérez, explained that this year’s 8M programme has been designed to appeal to all ages and interests. Different council departments are involved, and the line-up includes exhibitions, theatre, workshops, storytelling sessions for children, health activities and events highlighting the ongoing fight against gender violence.

Here’s what’s coming up:

Monday March 2: The exhibition Invincible Women opens at the municipal library and will remain on display until Sunday March 30.

Sunday March 9: Presentation of a participatory study exploring young people’s views on equality and the prevention of gender violence at IES Ruiz de Alda.

Tuesday March 11: A new Human Library session titled Experiences, followed by the workshop Women Who Listen to Themselves.

Thursday March 13: Gathering at Plaza de la Igualdad Ana Orantes under the message “All 25 are 25N”, reinforcing awareness around sexist violence.

Tuesday March 18: Official recognition of a local woman to mark 8M, followed by the performance of The Wind Is Wild by The Girls of Cádiz.

The institutional 8M manifesto will also be read during the Network of Meeting Points for Older People event at Príncipe de Asturias Park, which will include performances and activities.

The programme will close with health-focused sessions including the workshop For Us at senior centres in La Manga and El Mirador, along with the talk Croqueting with Health. Anti inflammatory diet led by the social media doctor known as Dr Croqueta.
