Eight countries compete for the 46th Spanish Navy Trophy in Santiago de la Ribera

Sixty‑six Snipe dinghies will battle it out over three days in the waters off San Javier

Eight countries compete for the 46th Spanish Navy Trophy in Santiago de la Ribera
This weekend, Santiago de la Ribera will once again play host to one of the most important dinghy sailing events in Spain and beyond. From December 6 to 8, the Royal Regatta Club is organising the 46th Spanish Navy Trophy, the 13th Admiral Marcial Sánchez Barcaiztegui Trophy and the Paco Pérez Memorial, for which 66 boats have already registered.

The participating boats represent seven countries: Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Belgium, Norway and Sweden. This year, the home teams come from Andalucia, the Valencian Community, Melilla, the Balearic Islands, Madrid, Asturias, Cantabria and the Region of Murcia.

The regatta will consist of eight races spread over three days of competition, with the first contest starting on Saturday the 6th at 1pm. On the following two days, the race committee plans to start the first race of the day at 12pm on Sunday, while on Monday the first race is scheduled for the slightly earlier time of 11am.

Club President Juan José Camarasa emphasised the importance of the Armada Trophy for the Snipe class. “It’s the most important regatta for our Club. It’s an event that brings together the best Snipe class sailors, many of whom have competed in the Olympics and participated in major national and international sailing projects, whether in the Cruiser, Olympic or Dinghy classes.”
